1/4th of a year

After shooting with the 18-200mm lens for quiet a while I decided to buy my first “second” lens. There are actually already a few pictures up here that I have taken with it. All the ones who have gotten one of this probably love this prime lens. I am part of that group. Here are 5 reasons why:

1. It’s cheap:

For a student and starter hobbyist photographer, this is just a perfect deal, where you can get good quality for few bucks.

2. It is sharp baby:

When you are used to a lower-budget lens or just a kid lens this already is a huge difference, and just makes you cry when you see the awesome sharpness of the pictures.

3. No zooming

Yes, no zooming is a huge advantages. With this lens you learn to move around again and get the best composition you can get. With a zoom lens I often become lazy and just zoom in or out to make a legit composition. I stop thinking outside the box and how I can get even a better angle on a composition by moving around. This lens will teach you a lot about compositions.

4. BOKEH!

The background is just really sweet. With the low aperture you are able to get an incredible looking blurred background (bokeh). It allows you to really focus on the main object and draw out distraction from the background. Even more: you are able to make a really busy background into a interesting blurred scene. But you probably have seen these kind of pictures

5. Low light

With my old lens it was always kind of frustration when I had to pump up the ISO and get really noisy pictures during low light conditions (when I wasn’t able to use a good flash set up). With the wide open aperture much more lights comes through. That means I don’t need to push the ISO to the limit while shooting with a “high” shutter speed. -> NICE!

After all I recommend this lens to everybody who loves bokeh and wants to take the next step from the kid lens… This is definitely a lens I should be familiar with!¨

Wow it has been a really long time since I updated you guys the last time. I don’t even want to count back the days because that would take me too long. I am thankful for everybody who is still checking my blog for updates and new entries. You guys are awesome and true followers of my blog !

I thought a lot about how I am going to maintain my blog in the future. How I can keep it so that it doesn’t take up to much of my rare free time. My idea is now that I am changing my blog to a “photoblog”, where I will upload pictures I take and want to share with you guys. So basically there will be more pictures and less stories about my life. But don’t worry, every pictures writes its own story and it is true when they say “A picture says more than a 1000 words”! So, actually this will be even more interesting. And for those of you who are interesting in photography I am also going to write how I took a certain shot…

But for today I just want to show you a few pictures I’ve taken this summer break. My family and I went to the city of Hamburg, North Germany. We had a blast up there! We staid at a deaconesses’ home, which was again a place of great hospitality. At this point I want to send out a huge thanks to them! From there we went see Hamburg City and the places around Hamburg. But enough the talking, let’s let the pictures do that:
